Club Challenge!

Join us in a Creation Challenge!  God made creation to be exciting and fun to enjoy. We can also study it and find the "rules" that God established to keep everything working properly. Are you up to the "Challenge"?

I want you to be safe, so before attempting any of the experiments, please obey the following rules:

Always get permission from an adult (who knows, they may want to help!)

Always wear the proper laboratory gear when necessary
bullet

Gloves

bullet

Safety Glasses

bullet

Apron (and be sure to wear play clothes)

Have an adult help you whenever you:
bullet

Handle large amounts of water

bullet

Work with Fire

bullet

Use Electricity

bullet

Handle anything very hot or cold

Okay, Creation Kids... Let's Go!

EXPERIMENT #1: God's Refrigerators

Did you ever wonder how animals can stay outside on really hot days without getting too hot? God gave people, animals and plants the ability to be able to regulate (or change) their body temperature when they need to.

You and I know to wear a hat, or go lie down in the shade whenever we get too hot. But even that only helps so much. When God created us He wisely knew that we needed a good way to cool ourselves.  One of God's cooling tricks is water!

Some animals get in water to keep cool, and others produce their own. This is called perspiration. People and animals perspire (but Moms say, "Horses sweat, people perspire!").

Water can cool your body the same way a refrigerator keeps your can of pop cool. Here are a couple of experiments for Creation Kids to try out God's Refrigerator!

TRY THIS:

bullet

Moisten the back of your hand with water.

bullet

Now blow on it or fan it with a stiff piece of paper. How does your hand feel?

bullet

Try this experiment again with a little baby oil on the back of you hand.

bullet

Try rubbing alcohol (with mom or dad's permission and supervision).

bullet

Which feels cooler? Can you explain why?

bullet

Thank God right now for creating a refrigerator that is so "hand-y"! Hey, it can even "hold" a pop!

EXPERIMENT #2: The Winds Obey Him!

Do you know this story? Many years ago, Jesus Christ got in a boat to cross the river with his friends. A storm suddenly came and frightened everyone except Jesus -- he had fallen asleep! His friends woke him up and asked how he could sleep, didn't he care about them? (What a silly question).
Jesus got up and yelled at the winds, "Quiet, Be still!" -- and the wind stopped! When everything was quiet his followers wondered, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and waves obey him."

Well, you and I know "what kind of man" he is - He is the CREATOR!  The wind and waves HAVE TO obey him - and they still do. And that is what this experiment is all about.

Everyday wind is formed when cold air and warm air push against each other. In this experiment we are going to form our own air. Sound like fun?

TRY THIS:

bullet

Find an empty glass bottle (preferably a cola bottle). It has to have a small "mouth" on it.

bullet

You will also need a dime.

bullet

Place the bottle in the refrigerator for several hours. Put it in before you go to bed, or before you go to school, and when you come back it will be ready.

bullet

Take to cold bottle from the refrigerator and wet the rim (mouth) of the bottle.

bullet

Place the dime on the rim and wait a few minutes - What happens? As the bottle warms up the air in the bottle warms and "escapes" out of the rim. You have your own miniature wind machine!

bullet

Think of things that wind is useful for everyday, and praise God for the wind!
